Short answer: Not necessarily…
My quick response to last night’s WWE RAW
I think three hour RAWs should be close to PPV quality. I’m not sayin’ give away stuff for free, mind you, but they should be treated importantly. Maybe have one title match, like a Divas or US, even if we all know it will end with no result, DQ, or no title change. RAW Roulette and even King Of The Ring last year, while gimmicky, still had an excitement around them. As much as I love The Rock and Mick Foley, I just feel like there was a LOT of missed opportunities last night. Since there were no gimmicks last night for the three hour RAW, with it instead focusing on getting ROCKED, I feel like The Rock should have been more involved. Again, I realize you don’t wanna give things away for free, but he should’ve been out in the thick of it more. I do like how they didn’t hide him away, tho, what with showing him arriving, him randomly coming out to little fanfare to Rock Bottom Foley; It made him appear like a regular. Anyway, I wasn’t totally disappointed; I thought CM Punk and Del Rio were good, and JR is always a treat (Cole Challenge notwithstanding). There were things I didn’t like, tho; The Miz and Truth should have wreaking havoc throughout the entire show, Mark Henry and Show should not have been pigeon-holed into a Tag Match, and Nash and Santino bordered on pointless. It felt like a regular RAW, stretched out an extra hour. This is also a travesty especially since it’s the Survivor Series go-home show. Do I want to buy SS now? Yeah, probably, but not because of this particular RAW.
I always like to judge three hour shows (WWE or TNA) on the ‘Would I Be Angry To Have Paid For This?’ System. And even tho the show wasn’t terrible, I think my answer would be ‘Yes.’
